Comment:

I am trying to install XP Pro and keep getting error messages. I've tried searching MS KB with no luck. There are numerous different errors that come up, but the most frequent is the BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Also says something about acpi.sys down at the bottom of the screen? i have also seen usb.sys?

SPECS:
AOpen AK79D-400VN
XP1800+
512 pc2100 (2*256)
Sapphire 9200 SE
TT Volcano 7+
16x DVDrom
maxtor 80GB 7200
BIOS R 1.05
300 watt psu

I've tried "good" RAM-- same issues.
BIOS are all setup defaults.
clean install/all new parts
Please help!

Try taking one stick of Ram out, reformat again and try new install. See if that works. First, go into bios and make sure acpi is enabled.

If that does work, after you get installed put the 2nd stick of ram in the third dim.

so you are actually skipping the second dim.

Sounds like you are getting corrupted install.
