Anyone who has a good running copy of XP Pro installed, I would appreciate it if you could email me a copy of your hal.dll file found in C\windows\system32 folder. I checked the folder and the file wasn’t there. So, please, if you could email me a copy I would really appreciate it.
thank you
i had an issue, don't know if you did or not but...when installed some DVD software, I was forced to power off becuase the software wouldn't stop running after playing the DVD for a while. When it restarted is said that my hal.dll was missing. I tried to replace it with the XP hal...no good. I then tried to apply my back up that I had from CD, the entire XP partition...no good. I believe that some how the part. table was corrupted and i had to perform a full re-installation. XP was forced me to reformat the partition because it said it was invalid during the install. haven't installed that software since.
hope you don't have the same issue, but this was more of an fyi...incase any else has similiar issues.

Yes, I believe many people have that hal.dll problem. When I had a 700MHZ ALL-IN-ONE Motherboard, it worked fine. I upgraded to a better SYSTEM BOARD, and a 1000MHZ, and they it started messing up...
ANY FIXES?

How can you restore it off the CD? The system is hung in 'startup' mode....doesn't the hal.dll file handle the drivers associated w/the CD player. CD doesn't work on my system.
need to boot from 6 floppy disks. get them from
