Xp Pro Freezing

CPU/Ram: P4 1.7/256mb

I just did a fresh install of XP Pro(came with laptop) and it freezes on me at no specific time. I had just logged in a then it stuck when got to desktop.

Use event viewer and performance monitor to offer clues. Might also find info in taskmanger.

Sounds more like a heat related problem, your CPU maybe over heating or the fan isn't kicking in. Another possibility is dodgy RAM - download memtest to check this.
