MOBO: ABIT IG-7
Ok, i was playing Morrowind last night when my system rebooted on me. After it checked the cdrom drive for a bootable disk, i get a this message "c:\windows\system32\config" file is missing or currupt.
I then proceded to boot off my XP Pro cd, to load teh repair concel. But i get the follwoing error. "\i386\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe" is missing Error Code 4.
A: i can't load windows
B: i can't load the repair concel.
C: I'm at the point, to reinstall xp, but can't since i can't get the cd to even load.Has anyone seen this? What are my options?
Oh, and my machine doesn't have a floppy drive.

Can you boot into bios? Is the harddrive detected properly in bios? Inability to boot even to the CD could indicate a problem with your RAM. Suggest you carefully clean the case interior and re-seat all cards and cables including re-seating ram.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.

If the error message was...
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMit means the Registry has become corrupt.
Try this...
When you are booting your system, press the F8 key during the start of the bootup sequence, after it does the Power On Self Test. You should get to a Menu.
Select "Boot Using Last Known Good Configuration"Good luck

Hmmm, since the registry is corrupted, i can't load last known configuration, and i am able to boot to Cd, i just get an i386\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe" is missing Error Code 4...I'm asking, what is a Code 4 when the i386\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe is giving me an error.
