This problem has lasted ages.

Basicly i've built my own computer, everything works except both the cd-drives. I think this is because the drivers aren't installed or something, i've had help on that issue before.

The problem is : Sec master drive ATAPI incompatible, and Sec Slave drive ATAPI incompatible

Anyway using past posts from other people, i've tried:
1: chenging the IDE cables, i have two and both cd drives don't work on either
2: Check the jumpers, one is set to master, one is set to slave, both on the same IDE cable, which are both plugged in the right way around
3. Setting CD-ROM as first boot in CMOS
4.pressing esc when the computer info shows
5. I set both the drives to auto is CMOS,

I couldn't make them work, so i downloaded the Windows XP Pro boot disk, six in all. Ran them on the computer, all was ok untill it got to the sixth disk, then it just sits at Please Wait...
Someone said try downloading the program again and make six more disks, i did, it still didn't work, i tried waiting for longer becuase someone said it took him ten minutes, i've waited two hours, still Please wait...

What do i do?????

I have no idea

P.S. the XP cd does work cos on this computer it works fine.

HELP please

This occurs on machines with DVD/CDRW combo drives when the BIOS is set to AUTO for the device.
Setting the devices on the secondary controller to NOT INSTALLED will solve the problem and also boot the PC faster than previously with no detrimental affect in Windows.
Devices such as Removable Media devices (zips, orbs) and DVD/CD-ROMs should almost always be set to NONE or NOT INSTALLED in the BIOS. AUTO should only be set for fixed hard disk drives. There yugo, RNM
