XP Pro - blue STOP screen during bootup

Comment:
I have been getting two different blue XP STOP screens at bootup almost every day for the past week (when I first built the machine). Has anyone else been getting many of these? I'm not sure what the problem is, and the descriptions are hard to decipher. (My guess is an incompatible driver problem and/or a memory problem)

I had this problem and went through LOTS of things to try to find the problem. My last resort was to reformat my Hard Drive with FAT-32. My system is now solid as a rock. When I installed XP I formated my Drive with NTFS because it is supposed to be more secure. In my system seemed to lock up about the time it was initiating the USB ports. I also found that FAT-32 runs thing a bit faster. Carl

My XP Will do the same every bootup. I installed over ME, then reinstalled XP again b/c of a "few" problems concerning hardware. I do not want to reformat, at least not yet. 1. Is there a way around blue screen. 2. Is there a way to run a temporary shell from dos that I can backup "certain" files on my hard drive BEFORE reformatting?
