Comment:

When XP pro was initially installed on my machine (standalone home computer) it was set up so I didn't have to ctrl/alt/delete or click on an icon to boot. In doing some reconfiguring I lost the auto login function and now I have to click on an icon to log in. Anyone know what I need to do to make the log in process hands free?

Do you have Tweak UI, on your computer?

If not you can get it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Open Tweak UI, click on the plus sign next to logon, and click on Auto Login, and put a check mark in that box.

In Control Panel,
click User Accounts,
then "Change the way users log on or off",
check mark both items.

Also to say if you have Guest Account showing at
Log on, then turn it off.

In User Accounts,
click Guest Account,
then click "Turn off Guest Account".

If that doesn't work try this:

click start then run in the box type;

control userpasswords2

this will give you some more options.
