Hello all, I have win xp pro on my pc and I have it into two partitons(both NTFS) and I would like to put linux 7.2 redhat on my 2nd partition. I am a newbie with a whole lot of movies on my 1st partition so I want to do it right the first time so that I won't lose all my movies. please send me an email.

You cna't install linux on an ntfs partition.

I'd suggest you convert your partitions to fat32 using partition magic. Or there's also mandrake's linux for windows but I've never tried it so I don't know if it's XP compatible and NTFS compatible.

I'd just delete the second partition and create a linux partition (you do this during the linux installation.) I've got redhat 7.2 and win XP each on a partition and they run fine!

easy. If you have windows on the first partition you had solved your problem. RedHat
will do everything for you.
Just insert the installation CD, you will see a map of your partitions, next delete de second ntfs partition and add the ext2 or ext3 filesystem to the new free space. You must add 2 partitions at least: / and swap.
But I recommend that you add /, /usr , /home, /boot and swap.

do you mean i need to make a total of 3 partitons cause I only have two? right now my drive c: has 53gigs on the first and 3 gigs on the second.

I have windows xp professional and linux 7.2. I have five partition, four are NTFS and remaining one in ext3 in which I have installed Linux 7.2. My windows boots auto. I want to boot Linux 7.2. I want to see the options at booting the computer. What can I do for it?
