XP Pro and java

Im running Windows XP Pro and i lock up constantly in game sites. The XP patch from java is terrible so I d/l previous version 1.3.1 (and others). Still lock up. Any help appreciated.

run Windows Update, once on the Microsoft web site...look for and download the Java Virtual Machine.

Thanks Richard, but I have heard really bad comments about Microsoft's Virtual Machine. It runs about 50/50 at download.com. The Java VM also is no longer available on the Microsoft website. Thanks, Darlene
