I havent had any problems with my computer, until I discovered a trojan horse virus, downloader.____.___ not quite sure. When I tried to fix it, I couldnt. I read that it was somewhere in my system restore files, and that I should disable system restore, reboot, then run the AVG or Norton. I disabled system restore, rebooted, and now in the BIOS, im getting Primary Master: none. I generally would have 3HDs, 30gig, 3gig, and 500meg. It recognizes the second two. It then proceeds to boot into Windows XP, and allows me to choose a User. When I pick my User, my desktop loads the graphics, and the icons, and then the computer immediately turns off/reboots itself. I have repeated this process several times, I have booted into safe mode w/MS-DOS, and ran virus scans, basically I have done everything I can think of. If you are familiar with this type of problem, I would very much appreciate your assistance.
Thanks

Check the start-up see if anything strange in there, do a research and disable them if they are harmful.

i'll try that.
in DOS, i can access all three drives, and run things on all three, so the data isnt gone, although it says primary master: none.
i ran AVG through DOS, and it said something about not being able to directly access the hard-drive (C:) but I said to ignore, and it performed the scan successfully, finding nothing.
As far as the startup, the first splash to popup after choosing my user is the INCD splash, but it finishes loading, disappears, and then the computer restarts. it might be something booting up next thats causing the problem.
im not sure if its relevant, but the first sign of a problem was tracked back to something in the system restore files, and then, randomly, there was a downloader virus detected in my notepad.exe file, which i believe has since been fixed.
i appreciate any help anyone has to offer.
Thanks
