I was just curious. A friend has told me that he used a purchased version of windows XP Pro on both his and his sisters computers, and both versions were activated using the same key. He told me he believes if the disk is used on computers within the same household it's ok. So the question is, i have an activated copy of windows on this machine, will i be able to use the same CD-Key to activate the windows on my other newly built machine? Or will it cease after the 30 days?

Sorry but your friend needs to read the software agreement again! According to MicroSoft, you CAN only install Windows XP on one computer. It doesn't matter whether your second computer is in the same house or even in the same room, you can't install one copy of XP on that machine--second machine. Therefore, you need to purchase another copy of XP if you want to install it on your new computer... That's how MicroSoft sucks your wallet dry!!!

You can install XP on more than one machine with no problem. The problem is the `Activation' process. You will not be able to activate the second system and after 30 days it will quit working.
