is it possible to run xp at a frequency lower than 60hz?
it seems my dvd player runs lower because there is less flicker on the screen
i've got a sony 25" trinitron tv which i believe is running at 50hz

If you have the correct graphics card that will allow you to use a tv as a monitor for your computer then it will run on what ever frequency the tv is designed for.

it's a creative geforce fx5900, it supports output to a tv & monitor, the tv output is an s-video port
would there be an option to enable 50hz output from the nvidia forceware software?

What you see on the TV-monitor is an analog output properly converted from your video card.
The TV-out signal frequency is determined by the TV standard for the card, PAL or NTSC, and it is not selectable as an indipendent parameter.
You may get the latest video driver from the NVidia web site www.nvidia.com (Version 61.77 for Windows XP, not WHQL signed but that does not matter). May be that improves your TV-output.
