OS: WinXP
CPU/Ram: Pentium D 925 / 2Gb
Product: Hp/Asus Leonite 5.00
Comment:

WinXP Setup will not recognize either my 250gb HD nor my 320gb. In the field where I'm to choose the hard drive partition to install Xp, neither drive shows up. Only Vista is able to be installed which is kinda frustrating. (XP has installed fine on a 160gb Hd using the same MoBo) What settings in which field should I modify?

Are they SATA drives, by any chance?

XP does not recognize large drives by default (> 137 GB). This has been cured with the introduction of SP1.

slipstream service pack 2 into your installation CD or use the HD manufacturer tool to setup the drive.

Ah, that's what I thought. You don't happen to have a floppy drive installed, do you?

You'll need a driver disk for the XP installer. Yes, it must be a floppy disk. No fancy USB or CD drives allowed. Once you have the disk, boot the installer and press F6 (I think) when prompted for additional SCSI/RAID drivers.

Thanks mattie,

I had that program years ago, but I lost it and I couldn't remember the name.
