well heres the deal. im using ghost for restoring images, but i have no way of knowing the OEM number generated by the product key. so i cant just go change it in the resistry, looking for some type of utilty/program that i can enter the product key in and it will tell me what the oem number will be. its not that big of a deal in win9x because you dont have to resister, but in XP you HAVE to activate, and if i leave it with the same serial number as everyone else, then no one can register. anyone know where i can get one, or how i can find out ?? PLEASE help me out, this would be a great help, restoring an image takes 10 mins, compared to installing which can take up to 60 mins, and saves me alot of time. THANKS!!

Your post is unclear. What version of Ghost are you using? Ghost 2002 will ask you for a registration number generated by itself and it is the same number every time. You also need to enter that number before you restore an image. It appears on the boot up screen for Ghost. I use Ghost and it has never asked me for an OEM number. Please provide more details

use sysprep which is located on the original windows xp cd in \support\tools\deploy.cab
extract all files to a folder on the network or local hd.
complete your image with all programma's and adjustments to windows xp. then run sysprep.exe and choose minisetup as option.
after finishing sysprep will shutdown your pc. Now run ghost of drive image to make an image. when restoring you will be asked to give a OEM serial for windows XP.

have fun.
