When I click the "Turn off computer" button, my system reboots and does not shut down.

Any reason why this would happen ?

I have the same problem.
I think it's a motherboard - XP incompatibility issue, i hope a bios update will help, or there will be a patch available soon if more people are experiencing this problem.

Dont know if this will help. Good luck.

Right click on desktop, properties, screensaver, power, APM (advanced power management), check enable.

had same problem, i had easy cd creator installed and once i uninstalled it fixed it. Reason it does this, is because u have th eoption "reboot on system failure" checked, in device manager un one of the options. If you didn;t have it checked you would get a blue error screen instead. The only wya to solve it is to get rid of the software that is screwing up

I have the same problem. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 Desktop and after installing EZCD 5 it WILL NOT shut down without using the darn power switch. Does anyone know if there is a fix for Roxio EZCD to fix the problem. Thanks all...

I had the same problem with my shutdowns.

If you have usb devices connected to a usb expansion card this could be your problem. I had my mouse connected to the on-board usb port but removed it because my computer would randomly drop the usb connection. I connected to the expansion card and my computer wouldn't drop the usb connection but Windows XP would not shut down properly. So now I have to choose which of the two evils I would prefer.
