I have a problem with XP and my cd-burner. I have a digital technologies 52x burner and they do not even provide an updated driver for it on their site. I use Nero 5x.xx version to burn, when it recognizes. Sometimes, I have to turn the computer off with the Nero setup disc in the drive and turn it back on to get it to recognize, however, it doesn't even do that anymore. It is very frustrating. Please help.

Try going to the nero website and getting driver updates. Nero is pretty much compatible with all cd drives

Look in My Computer to see if the drive is labeled CD-RW Drive. If not then maybe this:
CD-R Drive or CD-RW Drive Is Not Recognized As a Recordable Device
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316529
Or look for and try a Windows 2000 driver.

Nero does not provide a driver for the 52x cd-burner on their site.
As to the other comments about my computer, if it is listed on there, it is listed as a removable device, and it will show CD-drive, but if i have a disc (even the nero setup disc) in the drive, it won't show anything.
I've tried to write to nero to find out what is wrong and do not get a response. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Scott....go back to the web site
Nero and download the latest version of Nero. Also, you don't need to be looking for updated drivers for your burner. You need to be looking for the latest FIRMWARE for your burner. This will solve a lot of your problems. Thats firmware not software. You should be able to get that from the digital technologies site. If all fails go here.... www.cdrlabs.com and log into their forum page.
Good luck,
Normande
