I am having trouble logging on to this new XP machine we just purchased. Admin logs on fine but when a user signs on they receive an error message about not being able to log on with the users profile, but will log on with a temp. I have two other XP machines and they work fine. We are using a Win2K domain server using the latest service pack and 40 other computers all using win2k professional, no problems there either. Please help!!!

more info needed.. is it local login, or domain login? If it's local login, try creating another profile and see if that gives you problems as well- then you'll know which direciton to go. If it's a domain login, make sure your computer(new XP) is registered on the server in order for any domain user be able to login to it. If it's giving trouble, just join local domain(workgroup) -apply and then rejoin the domain with the admin account to the server- i think you'll have to restart before rejoining. Also make sure that domain/users are specified that they are allow to login in to that workstation. Ususally it's set by default but who knows what's going on with windows sometimes. Max
