Ok so i download and install new 5.5 catalyst for my 9800pro. But after that it does not detect my 9800pro and kept disabling it. After I tried renabling it, I decide to stop the VGA controller from starting in hopes of forcing the 9800pro to work. Unfortunately this does not work and now when it finished booting i see nothing but i hear the sounds of my os. So i need to know if there is a way to renable the VGA controller. I tried BIOS settings and Safe Mode with no luck. Also i will reboot if i can get some files off the hard drive. Currently im downloading Knoppix to boot on a cd and see if I can get the files. I would like to know if there is an easier way to get to the files without taking my harddrive out. Any help would be appreciated

Boot into safe mode and remove the 5.5 Catalyst along with the drivers. Then resart and see if it will boot and detect correctly. Have yout tried setting you Bios to defaults? There should be an option for this in Bios or refer to you manual on how to do it. You may have a jumper on your board. Were you having trouble with your video card for you to download the new catalyst?
