xp not booting finish

Specs: Windows XP
anytime i turn on my laptop,it asks me to either boot in safe mode,and some other 2 boot mode,ive tried the 3 and none works,when booting/loading xp,it doesn't finish instead it restarts and does the same thing,before this stage it had an error loading windows explorer,so the only way i could do any work was through ctrl,alt,del ,then task manager.
please how can i fix this
on my p.c it is written for windows xp but vista compatible,if i'm to reinstall the os can i install windows 7

If you have your original XP disk, you should be able to do a repair by booting directly to the disk but you need to make sure that the CD drive is first in boot order to do it.
As to your other question about windows 7. Probably, but only as a new install, not as an upgrade, so you may not recover your data (unless you have an up-to-date back up. Since your machine indicates that it is vista ready, then you have a better shot at it than if you had an older one, but make sure you have at least 2Gig's of RAM for Windows 7 32bit (4Gig's or more for 64bit). And make sure that there are Windows 7 drivers available for your motherboard, your graphics card, DVD drive, and anything else (including your printer) and download them ahead of time onto a flash drive so they are handy.
