I have a computer with an intel DP35DP motherboard.
Last night, I downloaded and installed the latest BIOS, installed a Q9650 intel processor (upgrade from E6850 dual core) concurrent with the installation of (2) sticks of Corsair 2Gb memory (upgrade from (2) 1 Gb sticks of Supertalent).
Everything works with the exception of a restart message. XP appears to complete the shutdown sequence, but then the screen goes blank and I have to physically press the power button for 5 seconds in order for it to boot again.
I have found many articles on this subject, but most are related to software. The only software change I have made is that I upgraded to the latest BIOS.
I have a few ideas and have devised a method I wanto to follow for troubleshooting, I want to start by using the No Boot Wizard provided by Intel. I would like to avoid rolling back the BIOS to the earliest version needed for my processor and I do not want to install the old hardware, but I can do that as a last resort.
I dont want to start troubleshooting until I get a few ideas, since this really qualifies as a minor annoyance to me rather than a dire problem. I am not near the computer at the moment so hopefully I will get a few responses by the time I get home.
Thanks in advance.
