having problem with bluetooth. DLink DBT-120. trying to connect my laptop to desktop. both on XP Home edition.
I have used the wizards. when you click on My Network Places it comes us "MS home is not accessible. You might not have permission..."
The network connections aren't firewalled. I can "see" the other PC in "My bluetooth places". When double clicking I get TCP/IP error 718.
I am trying to print from the laptop to desktop, but can't see the printer. I can do this OK when I use ethernet cards but I want to use bluetooth instead.Any help please! Thanks

Hello,
I just read up a little bit on your bluetooth adapters. It seems like they don't integrate with xp's native networking capabilities, but rely on the dlink software. Did you get a book with the bluetooth units ? If not, you can find the manuals here:
http://support.dlink.com/downloads/
It seems pretty easy to follw along & make a connection work.

Hi, I do not know that card (bluetooth. DLink DBT-120) but if you have network problems the things I have learnt is to set up a static IP address rather than letting XP configure it and ditto for the bluetooth device.
One other thing did you share the printer?

Hi,
Thanks for your suggestions. The printer is set to shared.
In bluetooth places, I can connect to "Serial port" but when choosing Network Access on the msg "The network access connection failed. Service not found" or error with timeout. I'm not too bothered about not getting My Network Places to work, but still can't get see a printer! I hvae an Epson 880. It is set to shared.
Can I use serial port to print? help plz. I'm wondering if 30quid should have went towards a 2nd printer!
Or how do I manually configure IP. ?
Thanks in advance.
