XP modem wont re connect

I can connect normally to Earthlink with my 56K but once I disconnect,and reconnect my browser can't find the site (the dreaded white page)the line is busy and indicates connected. Once I reboot all is well but can anyone tell me how to fix this? What a pain.

Are you using ZoneAlarm? I have the same kind of problem with ATT if Z/A (either freebie or Pro) is in use. There is no similar problem if I use Tiny, Sygate, or no firewall.
