Ok this may be only slightly related to XP but can anyone confirm that touch screen monitors work with XP MCE?

I know that they work but i would like someone with knowledge on the matter so i can pick your brain. How do the menus work, is it point and click or do you need to croll using an arrow button. Are there music controls that work with a touch screen?

Any knowledge will be welcomed.

I ask this as im setting up an in-car system with touch screen and i am sick of setting up and configuring linux so i thought i would give XP MCE a look.

I am aware of the majority of the sites that people have a touch screen running with MCE, but i want to pick someones brain about HOW it actually runs with it, like i said above, how do the menu systems work with the touch screen and the movie/music controls etc.

The majority of the sites have loads of technical info on how to set it up etc but not about how it runs.

Check out www.cannonpc.com. Our EX series media center has a 7" hi res color touch screen built in. It works great!

Looks good cannon but nothing like what im looking for, though i checked out your links section and found something that i hadn't even considered which is voice control, do you have this in any of your PC's? BTW nice looking site too.

Things i'd like to find out is, for instance, as i wont have a permanently connected keyboard or a remote, can the volume / FF RW / play / Navigation etc be controlled through the touch screen (via the mouse i guess)?

And if it is controlled via the touchscreen how? is it a scroll like motion, static buttons? as it will be in-car i would want a simple interface to be used while driving.

Yes, we have voice control on all our units. It is a $149 add on though. But it only controls the Windows Media Center interface.

The volume, FF, RW, etc cant be control easily through the touch screen. Basically on our units what you see on the touch screen is what you would see on your HDTV or TV. It is just a clone display. You could control the volume etc, but it would not be real easy but possible.

A good site to check out is xenarc.com. They make great touch screen systems just like we use on our PCs but they are made for the car.

Hope this helps
Gregg
