Can you use the mouse to access the event viewer? If not then borrow a usb and try it. Might try to boot into safe mode.

Some non-use keyboards take too much current from the motherboard and seem to lock up the chipset that controls most of the i/o. As a rule I never suggest that one ever take out a keyboard connector and replace it with the power on. I have seen it work before but you can damage a fuse on the motherboard.

You shouldn't suggest that, and I've never seen a mboard that has fuses for the PS/2 keyboard.
.....

Try another PS/2 keyboard. Try your keyboard on another computer.

Your cord may have broken wires inside of it.

I have never seen a motherboard without one.
They are not always labeled F for fuse but they are there and can be called any number of things R,L,. The design is still there and anyone in manufacturing can show you where. If not see how the lans at the connector show up to a component.

We have a few thousand computers that used special charactor keyboards. Don't know how many times we had to unplug the keyboards and plug them back in. I never thought it was a good idea.
