Hey Guys,
I was downloading some pictures from one of my memory cards and my computer froze and wouldn't respond so I had to manually hold down the power button to power it off. Next time windows started, It asked if I wanted to boot in Safe Mode, boot with last known config, or start normally. Whichever option I select, windows starts to boot up and comes to the windows xp screen with the scrolling bar at the bottom, then about 3s later, it reboots, and does the same thing over and over. What would be a possible way to resolve this issue? Did any files possibly get corrupt when the computer froze and I had to power it off? If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks much!

I would start with a full cold boot. Take the power plug out and press the start button a few times. I like to start with a cold boot before I go on to any software repairs.
Next thing is to decide how valueable the data is on your system. If you NEED IT then consider a live CD to boot from and copy the data off before you go any farther.
If the cold boot is of no help and you have your data off then you need to consider a "repair" of the xp install. Do a search for repair xp boot cd and you will find good how to's that show step by step.
Now there might be other ways to fix what is going on without a repair. Be sure you read up on repairs so see what happens. Some boot disks are based on XP and can use tools to copy only the files you need.
Lastly is a full clean install from either your OEM disks or your xp disk. You may loose all data and need to re-install all drivers and other applications.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

Manually holding your power button to shut down is safe. Sounds to me like your system files might have somehow gotten corrupted.
If you have a XP Pro installation disc (NOT a restoration disc) you can try a repair install.
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/X...If you don't have an XP Pro disc, ask your friends and family to borrow one, that would be an easy solution. Good Luck
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

But first - if at all possible (and as already advised above) - get all data off the system entirely (copy it to CD/DVD) via another working system. Either slave the drive to it etc...; and verify those copies are OK (fully readable etc.) before proceeding any further... (Safer than sorrier.) Or use a Knoppix or Ubuntu (linux on a cd) bootable CD to achieve same copy process...; then proceed with repair/recovery routines...
