Hi, i desperately need some help. Recently, every time i turn on my computer it tends to freeze either at the wndows XP display, or whilst logging on. My computer just completely crashes., and then i have to restart but when i do restart , it takes a good 7 or 8 times of me having to press restart again until it eventually loads!!! Could anyone please help me??

2 suggestions-try system restore to a point before the problem. System repair. Boot from the xp cd and go past the recovery console to the install menu and select repair the existing installation. You won't lose any data except all the xp updates. You will have to reinstall them including the service packs. Be sure your firewall and A/V are active before going on the net.

Is it possible to do a system restore? Another thing might be that ur PC is loaded with ad and spyware.Spybot is the one I'd recommend, and if you can't d/l it, maybe get a friend to put it on disc for you and run it. HTH
If you need a simple solution, try mine. I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Changes in registry can be FATAL! I now have a 95% success rate!

If you ran all the anti-virus and spyware programs and system repair didn't work it looks like a clean install. Copy your data to another HD or cd's and reinstall them after the clean install.

Hi, thanks for your help. i have ran norton antivirus, and it didn't find a virus, i've done system repair, but that didn't do much.. nowm, i've just completed the spybvot suggesstion, in which it fouiund some problems, the problems have been fixed but i will only really find out whther my computer is fixed when it crashes again or doesn't crash. But will post in near future, thanks! Will a clean install make a differenrce, won't the problems still be the same?

No, a format and clean install will put the machine like it was out of the box. If you had spyware you may want to run adaware, cwshredder, bazooka, and swatit. then install spywareblaster. All found on google and free. Keep them updated and run frequently. Good luck.
