Hi guys
I had been having problems with Microsoft Outlook so uninstalled then reinstalled the Office suite (2000 Professional), and it has not fixed the problem. Prior to doing that I did the "detect and repair" and "repair" option under "Add and Remove Programmes" but no luck.
I've also tried disabling all MS Office apps at startup.
What's happening is that when I close a maximized email message, Outlook freezes up.
Sometimes it also does this after I close a resized image that has not been maximised.
I have not installed any new software recently, this started out of the blue.
It's very frustrating, as I can only ever read one message at a time and then I have to restart my computer. As I've successfully reinstalled Office 2000 and all other Office components I can only assume that Windows is causing the problem - can anyone help???
I know it's never good timing when a computer goes weird, but the office closes in 2 days and I need to get through all these emails or my clients will kill me! Arghhh!

Me again!
I've been browsing the other computing.net responses and came across the idea of looking up the "event viewer" administrative tool.
This is what's recorded each time Outlook jams (it generates two lines of report):TYPE: Error
SOURCE: Application Error
CATEGORY: None
EVENT: 1000
USER: N/A
COMPUTER: Dell
----
TYPE: Error
SOURCE: Application Hang
CATEGORY: (101)
EVENT: 1002

Hope some awesome knowledgeable person can translate this and advise me! Please! :)

If all else fails; open Outlook Express and transfer all the eMail to it. When it opens it will ask if you want to make It your default mail client, say yes and then it will ask if you want to import your mail from Outlook.
I had this problem once but my Outlook closed much sooner than yours. I fixed my problem by changing the Product ID Number. Microsoft has posted the directions for this task in the Knowledge Base. If I can find it, I'll try to post it for you.
In the mean time you may want to look at the articles below. They all treat problems of Outlook crashing for one reason or another.
To find more on your own use the Help and Support Center on your "Start" list. Just type in an appropriate question and look at the bottom of the left column for suggestions. You should find from 3 to 15 with every try.

Here are two more links. The first is the link that deals with changing the Product ID and/ or editing the registry. The second is the link to Outlook 2000 support.

Thanks again for your suggestions. I've investigated some of the links at this stage and it looks like I jhave an error in one of the Windows system files.
As an interum measure I've transferred all my email to Outlook Express, which is working fine.
Still anoying as I have to also open Outlook2000 for my calendar etc, but at least now I can start reading through my emails!
Thanks again :)
