XP installation freezes with Geforc

I've read some posts concerning Windows freezing upon initial startup with a Geforce 2 MX card, which I had. I swapped it with a new Geforce 4 Ti4200 and the only difference is that now it says "Starting up Windows," then the screen goes black and freezes rather than freezing at the blue screen. Not much progress there. As you can probably see, I'm at my wits end here. Is there no way I will get XP? I even tried disabling ACPI as someone else suggested. Anyone else with a similar problem out there? Thanks.

I had a similar problem with an ati card. Make sure the mobo is set to run agp in 4x mode and if a turbo option is available set it to on. Also set the video aperture to at least the size of your video card's memory size,[64mb?] 2x if possible, but remember this uses system ram and if you don't have enough[under 256mb] it will be slower.
