I am getting ready to do a CLEAN install of XP using an OEM disk. I have seen mentions on this site that the install disk for XP has an option to format. Does that mean that I do not have to format my disk before instll of Xp? How about partioning? I plan to backup all of my data first. Bill

yes, when you boot from the xp cd and go through the stuff, before you start the actual installation it asks you where you want to install (on the old partition aka your install of 98, or to create a new partition for xp, or to delete the old partition and install in its place) the third option would be the one you want to get a clean install.
