hi all, here i need to clean install a laptop that has cdrom but no floppy drive. However, the laptop just doesnt boot the cd on startup no matter bios boot order configuration has been set to cd. The technical helpdesk suggest me to purchase usb type floppy drive but he can not confirm that it will work as well. i am thinking to install over network using pxe without the need of floppy. Any useful guide will be very much appreciated.

When you boot into bios is the CDROM drive detected? Is there an autodetect setting that you might have to alter to enable it to see the drive.

i have tried to alter the boot order to cdrom - hdd, however it fail. The vendor claim that the notebook combo cd drive is not genuine and is not recognised during bios boot, so is the reason why. This notebook belongs to a friends grandpa.
