Everytime I try to install windows Xp pro, it works fine up until about 35 minutes left and then the screen goes to all black except at the very top there are some multicolord letters. (the cd stops reading also) after i restart a few times i usually can get through the install but when it loads to the windows logon screen its goes to the black screen again (cntrl, alt, del does not work at this screen). anyone know.. its been days of installing and formating..

If your machine is old, a bios upgrade is probably in order. Try to see if there is a newer one at the manufacturer's web site.

Also check in BIOS options for virus protection- to disable it.

The PLURAL for virus is....viruses.
Make sure you have no outstanding hardware issues, but if you got as far as you did, then I have to think it's OK there.
Is this an attempted CLEAN install?
