Hello. I have a new mainboard (MSI KT4V 6712 and the newest bios update 1.8).If I want to install XP I get while the Windows setup transfers the Data to the hdd a read error but as I tried the installation 5 times I get always a read error at another file.I tried to change the hdd and the CD/ROM but no success I get always the read error.Does maybe someone know what I can do?It seams that erverything works alright so it might be sth. in the bios?P.S. I got the read problem also before the bios update.

probably a corrupt memory module. windows setup is very resource hungry and that's why errors with memory only usually occur when running setup.

If XP will not install . Try using a different HAL, when set up says to press F6 for third party drivers, press F5 and choose standard pc for the type of computer .

thanks. The problem is, that he shows the read error in the 'dos-version setup' and then he shows it a second time in the 'normal windows setup'. I think I will try both :).
