I have a copy of Windows XP Pro. I'm upgrading from 98SE. When I try to install it starts to check my system and when it's almost finished I get a message saying that "Winnt32.exe has performed an illegal function and will be shut down." In the details it says that "winnt32 has caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.dll at 0177:bff7b9e6". It never even creates the upgrade.txt. I downloaded the upgrade advisor, from microsoft, which is supposed to do the same thing and I got the same message at the same time. I unhooked all my USB devices and I'm not using a Geforce video card. So, I don't know what's going on. Any ideas?

Dear fellow, my suggestion is you use a win98 boot disk. After booting from it, type smartdrv, go to the CD in which you have XP and search the file winnt.exe and execute it. In that way you'll avoid any interference from win98 making the first part of install in DOS mode.
