Havent seen this one posted.
When installing XP Pro, It goes thru the normal blue setup screen where it is checking all the hardware. After its done checking it says "SETUP IS STARTING WINDOWS"
and it just hangs there.I have now removed all hardware and still have the same issue.
Its a 850 Athalon with a Shuttle board
Geforce2MX400 video card.

I think I can relate to you on that one. At home I have three computers On two of them XP Went fine, those two have Professional. Now my other one which was a Soyo AMD ATHLON 700mhz with sound card on board. I had the same problem, I was going install the Home version upgrade.
And after going through all the frustration of trying to find out what the problem was I discovered it and had to shell out a hundred dollars for a new motherboard in fact it was a new motherboard and chip. I bought a ASUS 1.13mhz AMD ATHLON motherboard and chip combination. It seems that on certain motherboards XP just will not install. It has something to do with the way the board was made.
Here is the knowledge base article that starts it off about the setup hang message:

My suggestion is save yourself the hassle and go buy another motherboard. I did the same thing and end the end it still didn't help.
Hope this was helpful.

Another suggestion is see if there is an update for your bios. Ihave a QDI mobo and XP was doing the same thing. It would not install due to the mx gfx chip once i updated the bios i had no problem installing XP.

i flashed the motherboard already. Its a Shuttle board #A161
oh well... looks like i have to buy a new computer.

its not the m\b it the video card i got the same card whaT U NEED TO DO IS CHANGE THE AGP BUS APATURE SIZE FROM 2x TO 4x
