Im trying to install XP Pro on my friends computer i did the same stuff as i did on mine but it freezes when it gets to the "installing Devices" part with the green bar. I have no clue why.... ITs not the disk because i used it and it worked and we tried 2 different working ones. Could it be a hardware problem?? Please Help.

If you are trying to install windows xp on a machine and find that the machine keeps freezing part of the way through the installation, try pulling out non-essential cards(everything but the graphics card). In many cases, it is an Ethernet card, modem or sound card that is hanging the installer. Once XP is up and running, you can add these cards one at a time.
First, I hope you are not trying to use YOUR Win XP disc to install it on your friend's computer. You will have a big problem when you try to activate Win XP. The installation will appear to have stopped on XP, but it just takes a long time for XP to install devices. And installing only the needed deivices first, as Joseph suggests is a good idea. Add modem, sound card, printer, scanners, later.
I am having the same problem as Justin V. During the install, XP stops responding after it shuts down and reboots as part of the installation process. I am using a clean install on a new hard drive. I have pulled out all of the cards except for video and still have the same problem. Don't know what to do next. It is Windows XP Pro.
I also had this problem. All I needed was time. I had thought it stopped and kept reinstalling, but at one point I just left to do something else and when I came back it was going again. So my advice is to just leave it alone. If its not going in 30 minutes then you have a problem:)
