XP in place of Win98

I have a Win98 with two partitions, and I want to install WinXP completely over both partitions; or just get rid of the partitions. The default install procedure for XP installs it on one partition and leaves the other as Win98. How can I best get rid of 98 and go XP? Or do I have to blow the whole system first?

You use the XP cd to install and delete both partitions then make a new one and format it then install XP. This can all be done with the cd. If you have a problem with it use the recovery console and type diskpart and press enter. note: this will delete all files so back them up.
