I'm putting together a new computer based on an Asus A7N8X-E mobo, which has integrated SATA & RAID on it, but I can't get the WinXP setup program to see the SATA drive! I'm only installing 1 160GB SATA drive-don't need or want RAID. I was able to format the drive using the Maxtor MaxBlast4 software, and the BIOS sees it too, but WinXP just says there are no hard drives installed. Help! Many thanks.

Hi
Yoy have to load third party scsi drivers
(that came with your motherboard, cd).
You have to hit F(don't remember what key)
when you boot on the Win XP CD.Had the same "problem" few months ago,
and I found the drivers Windows needed on
the CD that came with the motherboard.Hope this help
Rune

I had a similar problem with a customers system. I had to use the CD and create the SATA controller floppy disk and insert it when prompted. The prompt I was getting would not let me search the CD for the files, it would only seek on the floppy drive.
Good luckRichard

It's F6. As soon as blue setup screen comes up, at the bottom you are prompted to load 3rd party drivers for scsi and raid.
I had to do it for my raid setup.
I think they need to be on a floppy. Could be wrong. Worked though for me.

Thanks! Umm...anybody know specifically which files I might be looking for on the CD? As I said, the new mobo is an A7N8X-E, if that helps.
Gracias, yet again....

Made it work! I just copied everything from the SATA folder on the mobo CD, and it let me pick. Working well. Thanks again for the help, all.

What if my new computer doesn't have a floppy drive? I too seem to recall that when I press F6 to install "scsi" "raid" (or I'm guessing SATA) drivers, that I could not browse (or see) the CD ROM when I took out the WinXP CD and put in the Motherboard CD. Are you telling me that I HAVE to have a floppy drive in order to install WinXP on a SATA drive? I'm generally a big Microsoft Supporter, but if this is the case I will be very annoyed.
Thanks!
