I'm helping a friend whose Dell was overrun with viruses, spyware, etc., bad to the point of reinstalling XP. I went through the reinstall with no problems, except that I don't seem to have a driver for the ethernet controller. I have CDs for the modem, monitor, etc., but not for the ethernet controller. The jack seems to be on the motherboard, not a separate network card, and the only markings on the jack are Pulsejack JW0A1P01R. I tried driverguide.com with no success, and Dell's website has drivers for other controllers but not this one. Any suggestions?

If you used the Reinstallation CD that came with the computer, the drivers should have been on it. Did you go to Dell's Support site and enter the Service Tag?
Try the R48857 Intel driver available from Dell's site.
Available here:

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Thats means its onboard, You will need a program called Everest to Identify your hardware..Once you have identified your network
plugin, then download the right driver from another pc..

Thank you both for your responses.
Jennifer - I did try the Dell support site and it gave me a bunch of drivers supposedly for that machine's service tag, but when installed they still don't work. I reinstalled using the CD from Dell, but I didn't think to try searching for the drivers on the CD after the install was complete to reload the drivers. I'll give that a shot.
Ghostman - thanks also for your input. If I can't get the CD to work for post-install driver search, I'll try Everest.
