Pro has additional networking functionality that is missing from Home. Unless you intend joining a network domain then stick with Home. It will do everything a home user would need including a small home network if you have one.

Teach him to fish and his wife will never forgive you.

Hi,

Here is a link to Newegg, and you can see the difference in pricing between Pro and Home editions.

Typically the rule of thumb is, if you are using in a business then go with Pro, otherwise go with the home edition. Pro has better password security which is required in businesses, in the home edition you don't really need that in most cases.

what the last guy says is true, but that rule was put out by Microsoft when the OS first came out. Pro only has a few features that home doesn't and you can find these by typing 'XP Home differences' into a search engine. go with the home edition, save 150$ (retail) and take your family out to an exquisite dinner.

you might consider xpmedia if you plan on doing a lot of pictures and other activities of this type. I found it easier to use that pro or home.
