Solved XP Home, log-in screen has Primary Drive 1 not found

October 2, 2013 at 07:06:23
Specs: Windows XP
Primary Drive 1 not found.
I can't dis-able the write in pass-word before Windows will start even after following directions.
My "control alter delete" doesn't work, neither can I use Control C, Control V, or Control X - spilled liquid on my keyboard.
Help will be appreciated to find my Primary Drive 1.

Hi mrushing,

It can be a hardware issue.

Please check if the hard drive is recognized in the BIOS Menu.

Restart the system and press F2 or Delete to open BIOS menu.

NOTE: You may have to press a different key depending on the manufacturer.

For Dell Systems, perform Hardware Diagnostics using the link mentioned below:

Thanks & Regards

That's an odd message to get on the windows login screen. Maybe windows is trying to load something from the lost drive.

As already mentioned, check cmos/bios setup after first turning on the computer to see if the drive actually shows there.

Even though you get that message does it boot into windows OK?
