xp home can't connect to LAN

I have an xp home version which I can't connect to the LAN.
I'm not into XP much, had some problems with xp pro but fine it works with a bit of tweeking!
Can someone tell me what exactly needs to be done to get xp home connected correctly and reliably? I've got 1 xp home working, the config on the other is the same but it doesn't work. I can ping all Servers and the Router. I can get on the net via the Router.
Note. I can not map a drive or see the network structure! on this box!

First do have home XP in the same workgroup? Then you also have to login xp pro over network best allwys give home the same username and password as xp pro.

All due respect but you'll have to explain in a bit more detail what you mean Frank?
Yes I've set the Workgroup, but to match the Network Domain, as I'm trying to connect this box to a LAN! Not a workgroup!
How does logging in to XP pro going to help me?
I'm the Domain/Server Administrator so I have full access on all workstations and LAN!?
