I don't think WinXP Home supports Dual Processors. WinXP Pro does.

XP Home does support dual-cores but not multiple sockets. Why AMD dual-cores are supported but Intel are not supported, I'm not really sure. You might want to check the Intel website for more information.

That is what I thought but AMD claims that XP Home does support their dual core. How should I interpret their claims?

Thanks, but again: why would XP Home fully support AMD dual core (as AMD claims) and not fully support Intel dual core processors? Microsoft confirms that XP Home does not fully support Intel dual core.
Of course it works, but XP Home cannot USE the second core, like XP Pro can.

I have raised this issue on several forums and found A LOT of confusion. I think it is an interesting issue because these days many PC manufacturers sell dual core systems with XP Home. This is fine as long as they do not claim dual core performance of these systems.

Thats a good point. Never buy a computer claiming to run at dual-core speeds that has Windows XP Home and an Intel chipset.
