Hi, all.
XP Help and Support used to open when I pressed F1. Now I have to click the Desktop first and then press F1.Ted.

Well thats a step in the right direction. Now all we need to do is make it so that XP help and support never opens ever again. hahahaha why would you need that? youve got all the help you need right here! :D

Sometimes I have to click something to be able to do things.
If you want Help to work at any time, then do-
Windows Key +F1
OR
Windows Logo+F1 (Display Windows Help)List of the keyboard shortcuts that are available in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301583

I have to click the Desktop first and then press F1.
This happens to me all the time. I guess it's because XP is tired from my mever-ending multitasking and it naturally forgot where it is. If you minimize all running apps, F1 would work. Like Chuck I prefer the shortcut Winkey+F1 which also eliminates the need to minimize all running apps.

I disable help and support in the services tab of msconfig. As it is as annoying as that damn paper clip was.

Why didn't you start a new thread if you want help to something completely different to what this one's about? Anyway if it's a dual boot system you can just format the partition with XP PRO on and then remove the dual boot settings from the system.ini file (if i'm wrong please correct as i can't remember right now). That should do it. Do the format in safe mode with no anti-virus, spyware/adware protection running and don't access the partitionm before you format it.
