ok system has been fine for about a year now. last night when i switched it on it asks me to run a consitency check on Drive Z: (a dump drive with no system files etc) the check runs fine no errors but then windows stays on the file check screen and wont load any further. weird as my op system is on a differnt drive. If i unplug drive Z: windows loads fine? what is going on i dont understand how drive z: has any effect on the loading of windows as no system files are on there?

Simon, could it be that there's an error of some sort on z and all's well up to the point where you have a call to z/something in your start up so your OS isn't there at all, that's just where it happens to stop due to the fubar? HTH. Ed in Texas.
