XP hangs due to wrong video driver

My ATI AGP card failed due to fan failure. I couldn't find a suitable ATI AGP replacement so instead bought an nVidia card. I couldn't uninstall the ATI driver first so now XP hangs during startup. In safe mode I sign in then the system hangs while loading. Help, how do I load the new driver in this case?

I was aable to uninstall the ATI card via My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager. Shut down & installed the nVidia GeForce 6200. At first it booted and detected the card, didn't ask for driver though. Device manager displayed the correct display adapter but apparently the driver it loaded is out of date.

Any one have any ideas? It's my wife's business system and she needs it running yesterday. I've worked in IT for years so I'm not a novice.
