After having video card problems that, in the the process of troubleshooting, I restarted my PC many times for, I got a new video card, and my computer now starts up (wasn't even starting). But now any time I try to start up I get this message:
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware of software change migt have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files anre folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset bytton was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command PromptLast Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Start Windows Normally
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the hightlight to your choice"
Whenever I try to start regularly or start with "Last Known Good Configuration" it locks up after loading that black and white ASCII bar. Whenever I try to start in safe mode it lists all the files it's loading, but hangs on "...WINDOWS/System32/drivers/Wup.sys", and locks up (no num lock toggle). I'm totally lost, and can't start up at all. Is there any way to bypass this, or something, or does anyone know what I might do? Thanks a lot.

I tried unplugging the mouse on startup, like someone suggested somewhere, and it started, and worked for a couple of days. Now it won't start again and hangs on Wup.sys, as before. Unplugging the mouse or keyboard won't make it start anymore either. When I try to boot off of the XP Home disk it just trys to start up through the disk or something, as it loads a bunch of drivers and locks up too. I never get a menu to choose "Repair" or anything like that, no menu at all. Someone....please.....I'm really getting frusterated....I'd hate to have my whole computer lying in the middle of the street a mangled pile of metal and PCB, but at this rate it's a possibility. Thanks a lot.
