I am doing a fresh install on a 60GIG hard drive and need to partition the drive. Does any one know how much I should partition the drive and if it matters what drive I select to install the XP O/S on?

First, why do you need to partition? New filesystems support VERY large drives, and more often than not, partitioning only ends up throwing away usable space.

But, if you must, then I would suggest making two partitions, one 10GB for the OS and use the rest for other data. You might also want to move your Documents/Settings folder to the second partition.

For sure make a partition. 10 gig is good for the operating system.

Then you won't run into the problem of trying to save data, as you read a lot about on here, when you have to format/reinstall.

It's actually better to have 3 partitions: OS, programs, and data.

It saves on defrags also.

Never install to drive C.
