Hi
I have a Compaq laptop (Presario 2500) which recently stopped charging due to a dodgy power connection. I opened it up and noticed that the connection to the motherboard was broken so I soldered it. Now the power is working fine and the battery charges, but when I turn the PC on windows (XP) fails to boot! It freezes at the windows logo/loading bar screen. The bar moves a few times but then stops and the system just freezes! I can start in Safe mode though but can't seem to find the fault. I ran RegistryFix and it identified >1000 reg conflicts! Is this because it is being ran in safe mode? The computer was working fine before I opened it??? (apart from the obvious power problem!)

It's the root of the whole problem now. You should have consigned the laptop to HP authorized service center instead of DIY especially with the soldering.
