Right-click My Computer, then properties, then advanced, then on Startup and Recovery settings.

Make sure "Write an event to the system log" is checked, apply and exit. This will force Xp to write an error statement in your Event Viewer, which you can then use to gain more information about the problem.

If this option was ALREADY enabled, you can goto Control Panel, Admin Tools, then Event Viewer. Try to remember the last time this happened, then scroll down to entries around that date/time, you will find an error message which will give you more detail.

You can then either post the info back here, or take it to the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Well if you are sure that it is asoftware problem do as hooner said. But if I were you I'll look at the rpm of my cpu fan.

Go to BIOS setup and check you cpu temp make sure it is normal.

otherwise it is time for you to start using Linux.

WHOA, wait up a minute!

Say, Rohinkoul, check the speed of the fan, and therefore the heat of the CPU? I assume if the fan is too slow, causing the CPU to heat up, Hot CPU's cause blue screens?

I recently Repaired my XP Pro, cause I kept getting blue screens after a while, thinking it might fix any corrupted XP Files... but its happening again, and this time failing to make a dump of physical memory or something... oh my god...

I just decided to check my event viewer, usualy it fails to store the events for me, but it's doing it now... and it's god dam (scuse the blasphomy) ZONE ALARM!

Has my motherboard got problems with anti-virus and firewall software OR SOMETHING!?

It crashes with crashes with AVG, crashes with Norton, crashes with Zone Alarm, theres not a single piece of software my mobo likes (I hear the mobo's can dislike these sort of utilities). I'm considering trying PC-Cillin but as it's 32MB, i'm figuring it has more chance to crash ~_~

I'm beginning to think upgrading my flash might be an idea.. if that may help. I considered doing it once when my CPU wasn't reading correctly, but I fixed that.
I still would have upgraded, but the information for the BIOS this program wanted me to download was all correct, apart from it saying VIA KT 400... where as it should be VIA KT 333 ~_~ I also heard that if the wrong BIOS is installed... then yur gutted because you're computer won't start... and I don't wanna rip that sticker off the BIOS thing on the mobo :(

I break everything I touch ya see, lol

For crying out loud, why is everything I write the length of a story!?!? It's all relevant Right!?

i have a BUTTload of acpi errors.

heres what it says when i right click on it in event viewer and then go to properties:

"AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range.
This could lead to system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

is this a major or common problem?
and can anyone help?
