Amd athlon 650MHz CPU
128 MB Ram
13 GB FUJITSU Hard drive
nVidia (GeForce 256) 32 MB video card
Aureal Semiconductor Vortex 1 sound card
Diamond Supra Max Modem
Onboard USB & Adaptec USB cardSetup:
XP SP1 dual boot with redhat 8 using 9 partitions (4 for xp and 5 for linux)Problem:
After completing the installation xp freezed after about 10 minutes. Everytime I rebooted the system it kept on freezing. Sometimes it freezed up before xp had completed loading and the other times after loading was complete. At most the system would work for 5 mins before freezing. Whenever I reboot the system in safe mode it works without freezing. I've removed the visual effects and changed the appearance/theme to the classic interface and now it only crashes on bootup about 25% of the time. However, it still freezes after about 15 minutes or when I use Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer and a few other programs. Thanks in advance

Well it sounds as though you have more or less diagnosed the problem yourself if you have booted into safe mode and everything is working fine. I gues you can say it is a driver. Normally the video card driver or it is conflicting with another piece of hardware. Try removing each hardware device or disabling it. Obviously look for updates for these drivers.
